GiftLedger – Privacy Policy

GiftLedger ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes how the app handles information when you use it on your iOS device.
Summary
- Offline-only: GiftLedger does not connect to the internet for storing or syncing your data.
- Your data stays on your device: Projects, contacts, gift records, and attachments are stored only on the device where you use the app.
- No account required: You do not need to create an account or provide personal information to us to use the app.
- No analytics or tracking: We do not collect analytics, usage data, or identifiers for advertising.
Information the App Uses
Data You Create
- Projects and gift records: Names, dates, amounts, currencies, notes, and similar content you enter.
- Contacts: You may link gift records to people. You can type names manually or, if you grant permission, choose from your device’s Contacts. Contact data used by the app (e.g. name, selected contact) is used only within the app and is not sent to any server.
- Photos: If you grant access, you may attach photos from your photo library to records. These are stored locally in the app’s storage on your device and are not uploaded anywhere.
- Backups: Backup files (e.g. JSON export) are created by you and stored where you choose (e.g. Files app, iCloud Drive). We do not have access to these files.
Device Permissions
- Contacts (optional): Used only to let you pick existing contacts when adding or editing gift records. You can use the app without granting this; you can always type names manually.
- Photo Library (optional): Used only to let you attach photos to gift records. You can use the app without granting this.
- Face ID / Touch ID / Passcode (optional): Used only for the in-app App Lock feature. Biometric and passcode data is managed by iOS; we do not receive or store your biometric data.
Data Storage and Security
- All app data is stored locally on your device (and, if you use iCloud Backup, may be included in your device backup according to Apple’s policies).
- The optional App Lock (Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode) helps protect access to the app on your device. We do not have access to your lock credentials.
Children’s Privacy
GiftLedger is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will work to address it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when we do. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
